Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesC+ FutureC+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Marshel Martin. He came off 103 spots early, and the room will hear about it. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The Dial steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick57 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 57 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick98 Rnd3 Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in pick 98 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick209 Rnd6 Eric Watts
Eric Watts slid further than he should have, and No. 209 is lovely value for the edge rusher. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick214 Rnd6 Josh Proctor
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at slot 214. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick215 Rnd6 Marcellas Dial
The board fumbled Marcellas Dial all the way to the 215th pick, and they scooped it up. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick249 Rnd7 Marshel Martin
They left a pile of value on the table to take Marshel Martin this early at slot 249. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
