Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
A-
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesA
FutureA+
The Bills let Starks fall and pounced. Final grade: A-. You could see the war room lean forward. Malaki Starks at the 62nd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Bills paired the rookies with proven help, Caelen Carson leading the way.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Malaki Starks and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick62
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 62nd pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tez Johnson in pick 109. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jaylin Lane
Jaylin Lane is a better player than pick No. 132 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
They read the board right and O'Donnell Fortune was the payoff at slot 169. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick170
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten slipping to Round 5, Pick 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales at the 173rd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick177
Rnd6
Tommi Hill
The board had Tommi Hill higher than No. 177, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jarquez Hunter
Nice patience on Jarquez Hunter, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jarquez Hunter
Steal is underselling it; Jarquez Hunter at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick217
Rnd7
Upton Stout
You do not let a safety like Upton Stout reach pick 217 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
