Draft Grade — Jets

The Jets did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jets did exactly that with Taylen Green in the Round 5 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.

That Majors pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the Round 1 slot they get a load in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in No. 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in pick 95 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick110 Rnd4 Evan Stewart
They let Evan Stewart come to them and pounced at slot 110. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145 Rnd5 Taylen Green
A wild overpay on Taylen Green in the 145th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick161 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at Round 5, Pick 23 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 184th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at pick No. 207 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
