The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Brashard Smith, the No. 117 name on the board, sitting there at the 238th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They are betting Burke proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
