FutureB-
The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Gordon II: B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, stolen at the 248th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cost of the Webb reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Anthony Richardson deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In No. 14 they get a sticky cover corner. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and the 34th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick65
Rnd3
Bradyn Swinson
Bradyn Swinson at Round 3, Pick 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
A premium they did not need to pay, Hollin Pierce a notch or two before his time. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134
Rnd4
Cody Simon
By-the-book stuff, Cody Simon at pick 134 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick155
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick221
Rnd7
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at pick No. 221 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
The board fumbled Ollie Gordon II all the way to the 248th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
