Draft Grade — Vikings

FutureF
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a F for the Vikings. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
The Sweat reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. On value alone, Logan Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In pick No. 2 they get the face of the franchise. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick3
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick4
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In No. 4 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
The board had cheaper options than T'Vondre Sweat at the 52nd overall pick, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in Round 3, Pick 20 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick130
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
Value with a capital V on Darius Robinson in the 130th pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick148
Rnd5
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at slot 148 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Dylan Laube
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Dylan Laube graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at pick 166 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick179
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. slipping to slot 179 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230
Rnd7
Kenny Logan Jr.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
