The Bears won the night they stopped Smith from sliding. Grade: A-.

Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Smith at that price is a win they earned. If Hicks pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.

Javon Foster at Round 2, Pick 14 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
