Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Patriots let Mafah fall and pounced. Final grade: A.

When a board-topper like Phil Mafah slides to Round 7, Pick 1, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Nick Emmanwori and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick38 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum in slot 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick67 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
Nice patience on Elic Ayomanor, who had no business lasting to the 67th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
No edge and no loss on Elijah Arroyo in No. 77; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
A quiet steal in the 94th pick: Donovan Jackson for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105 Rnd4 Savion Williams
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Savion Williams in Round 4, Pick 4. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick145 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 145 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick219 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
You do not let a running back like Phil Mafah reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They let Jamon Dumas-Johnson come to them and pounced at No. 222. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick240 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb at pick 240 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
