Bamks DRAFTING FOR THEChiefs
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Chiefs checked most of the boxes and earned a B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 33 spots for Ethan Downs, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren slid further than he should have, and the 31st pick is lovely value for the tight end. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick63
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
A quiet steal in slot 63: Kaleb Johnson for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Jack Bech in No. 66 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the 95th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick133
Rnd4
Pat Bryant
They reached a country mile for Pat Bryant at Round 4, Pick 31, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
You do not let a linebacker like Jay Higgins reach pick 226 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick251
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa slipping to No. 251 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick257
Rnd7
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs in slot 257 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
