Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Rams, and a B- to prove it. Nobody else had Kevin Jennings anywhere near Round 6, Pick 26. The Rams did, by 76 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Loveland value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
The board had Colston Loveland higher than slot 37, and the tight end fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick68
Rnd3
Darien Porter
They jumped the gun on Darien Porter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick90
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
Nothing to complain about; Danny Stutsman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick101
Rnd3
Anthony Belton
A conviction pick on Anthony Belton at Round 3, Pick 37 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick127
Rnd4
Brashard Smith
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brashard Smith. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at the 190th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
No edge and no loss on Jay Higgins in pick No. 195; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick201
Rnd6
Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson at Round 6, Pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick202
Rnd6
Kevin Jennings
They talked themselves into Kevin Jennings at No. 202, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
