FutureA
More right than wrong for the Bears, and a B- to prove it. The rest of the league had time to spare on Thomas Fidone II; the Bears did not wait, grabbing him 86 spots ahead at No. 165. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Emmanwori falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
In the 30th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in pick No. 39, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick41
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A premium they did not need to pay, TreVeyon Henderson a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Demetrius Knight Jr. at slot 62, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick63
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jackson at pick 63 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 3, Pick 31 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132
Rnd4
Ty Robinson
They reached into another round for Ty Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick165
Rnd5
Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick168
Rnd5
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at No. 168 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
