Jjh069 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections

Draft Picks Traded
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB
TradesB+
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Bears, and a B to prove it. Somebody in No. 232 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Jaylen Reed, the No. 183 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If Travis pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In the 14th overall pick they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
A tight end of that caliber at the 39th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick41
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at slot 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick72
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Nothing to complain about; Tate Ratledge went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick148
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in pick 148 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
They will replay Jaylen Reed at the 232nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalen Travis in Round 7, Pick 17, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick240
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
Good price on Zeek Biggers in No. 240, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
