There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Patrick Paul a full 30 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Carson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
