A sensible, unshowy class lands the Patriots a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Keylan Rutledge in No. 95.

The McAlister steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
