Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB-
The Panthers let Lew fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The Panthers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Connor Lew, the No. 63 name on the board, in the Round 3 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
They did well to land Lee Hunter in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick84 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in the 84th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Will Lee III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Will Lee III in No. 119. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick135 Rnd4 Bud Clark
Bud Clark at pick No. 135 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at pick 156 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick157 Rnd5 Albert Regis
They paid sticker price for Albert Regis in slot 157, and that is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick198 Rnd6 Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson at the 198th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon is a better player than No. 224 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick235 Rnd7 Jeff Caldwell
A tidy bit of business in slot 235, where Jeff Caldwell graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
