Higgins should have been long gone. The Commanders pounced, and earned a F.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jay Higgins at Round 7, Pick 19 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

They will need Horn Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
