The Chiefs let Fairchild fall into their laps, and walked away with a D. Somebody in Round 7, Pick 10 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Dylan Fairchild, the No. 104 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
If Gadsden II pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
