Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Steelers robbed the room for Washington. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Tahj Washington, the No. 192 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 240. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The Travis pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

The Foster pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 51 is lovely value for the linebacker. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 60 with a little surplus value in Xavier Worthy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84 Rnd3 Javon Foster
A curious use of slot 84. Interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Javon Foster did not.
Pick93 Rnd3 Beaux Limmer
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Beaux Limmer at offensive lineman with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots open.
Pick118 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Somehow Cam Hart was still sitting there in the 118th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at pick 119 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick127 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in the 127th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick129 Rnd4 Marcus Harris
They paid a round early for Marcus Harris in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick194 Rnd6 Keith Randolph Jr.
They liked Keith Randolph Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 194. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240 Rnd7 Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington at the 240th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
