Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Keaten Wade, taking him 70 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

However the rest shakes out, Allen at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a mismatch in the passing game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen at No. 63 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick95 Rnd3 Ja'Kobi Lane
They will replay Ja'Kobi Lane at the 95th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Caden Curry
Caden Curry in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jaeden Roberts
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaeden Roberts at the 131st pick is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick169 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Earnest Greene III. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick189 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
They reached into another round for Robert Spears-Jennings, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick200 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in pick 200 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick207 Rnd6 Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid in No. 207 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210 Rnd6 Keaten Wade
Keaten Wade in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
The board fumbled Ethan O'Connor all the way to pick No. 247, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
