Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureA+
The Bears finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

Dorlus falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Bishop has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jer'Zhan Newton
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a disruptive interior force. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick17 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In pick 17 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 J.J. McCarthy
In the 27th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Good price on Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 34, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick48 Rnd2 Roman Wilson
Nothing to complain about; Roman Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
A slide stopped in slot 75, with Patrick Paul worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
They liked Cole Bishop enough to skip the value, taking him in the 91st overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick103 Rnd4 Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at No. 103 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick114 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
They read the board right and Jalen McMillan was the payoff at the 114th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in pick No. 122, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick186 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
They went early on Joe Milton III in Round 6, Pick 11, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
