GSD3 DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. The Packers put a flag in the ground for Devin Leary, 52 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Tracy Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 41 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick58
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 25: Jaden Hicks for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Khyree Jackson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Elijah Jones
Value with a capital V on Elijah Jones in pick No. 126, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
The board had Tyrone Tracy Jr. higher than the Round 5 slot, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick202
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A wild overpay on Gabe Hall in No. 202, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at the 219th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick245
Rnd7
Evan Anderson
They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick255
Rnd7
Devin Leary
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Devin Leary. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
