Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
A-
ValueB
NeedB+

FutureA-
Bryant should have been long gone. The Panthers pounced, and earned a A-. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Pat Bryant, the 183rd overall pick, roughly 39 picks past where he belonged.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Panthers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In the end it comes back to Jalon Walker, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
Fair-plus on Jalon Walker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick47
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
By-the-book stuff, JT Tuimoloau at slot 47 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick57
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Value with a capital V on Tre Harris in the 57th pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111
Rnd4
Charles Grant
Taking Charles Grant in Round 4, Pick 9 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick114
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick 114 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick140
Rnd5
Kobe King
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kobe King at pick No. 140 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at the 146th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163
Rnd5
Ben Sauls
They did well to land Ben Sauls in the Round 5 slot, just ahead of his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick183
Rnd6
Pat Bryant
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick230
Rnd7
Caleb Ransaw
Caleb Ransaw at No. 230 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
