Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureC+
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Steelers a B.

Whoever sat across the table from the Steelers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still on the board. They will need Clark to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

However the rest shakes out, Kinchens at that price is a win they earned.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In slot 24 they get a lockdown presence outside. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A premium they did not need to pay, Zach Frazier a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kamren Kinchens
They read the board right and Kamren Kinchens was the payoff at pick 87. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95 Rnd3 Javon Solomon
A surprising call. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 95 on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick118 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A curious use of the 118th overall pick. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Matt Goncalves did not.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
The board had cheaper options than Johnny Wilson at the 119th pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at No. 173 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick194 Rnd6 Tyrice Knight
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tyrice Knight. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 216th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick240 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
A real head-scratcher, De'Corian Clark in Round 7, Pick 20 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
