Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bills.

You build a draft on nights like this. Braelon Allen had no business being available in Round 4, Pick 33, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. The Hall reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 28th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at pick No. 60 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in pick 127 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick133 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at the 133rd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick143 Rnd5 Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at the 143rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith slipping to No. 159 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gabe Hall this early at Round 6, Pick 13. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
Taking Tyler Owens in pick No. 248 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
