Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers let Mims fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Amarius Mims, the No. 22 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 41. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Benson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Amarius Mims
Somehow Amarius Mims was still sitting there in slot 41, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
They paid sticker price for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 58th pick, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick88 Rnd3 Trey Benson
They paid a round early for Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
No edge and no loss on Brenden Rice in pick 91; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
A tidy little value on McKinnley Jackson in No. 127, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick168 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
They will replay Jarrian Jones at pick No. 168 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
A straight-up fair deal on JD Bertrand at Round 6, Pick 29, value and slot in agreement. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick216 Rnd6 Myles Cole
They took Myles Cole at par in pick 216, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
