Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureB
The Vikings got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jake Golday tumbling to the Vikings in the 89th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Nowakowski has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

If Jermod McCoy and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
In pick No. 18 they get an island corner at fair value.
Pick57 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
The board had Caleb Banks higher than the 57th pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82 Rnd3 Connor Lew
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in pick No. 82, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jake Golday
Jake Golday in the 89th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick97 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields at No. 97 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick124 Rnd4 Bud Clark
By-the-book stuff, Bud Clark at Round 4, Pick 24 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick161 Rnd5 Nate Boerkircher
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nate Boerkircher in pick 161. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194 Rnd6 Rayshaun Benny
They paid up for Rayshaun Benny at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick234 Rnd7 Raylen Wilson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Raylen Wilson at slot 234 is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick240 Rnd7 Riley Nowakowski
Riley Nowakowski in the 240th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
