The steal of the weekend belongs to the Colts and Bryant: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Colts were there to profit. Cobee Bryant, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 234. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 14th pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick80
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the 80th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 116 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152
Rnd5
Nick Nash
Nice patience on Nick Nash, who had no business lasting to pick 152. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Kiser at No. 191, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234
Rnd7
Cobee Bryant
Somehow Cobee Bryant was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 16, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
