Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chargers: B.

The Chargers clearly saw something nobody else did in Will Rogers, taking him 89 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Landing Bassa that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in No. 53 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick84 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Alfred Collins reach the 84th pick and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in slot 156 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick178 Rnd6 Zane Durant
By-the-book stuff, Zane Durant at pick 178 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick195 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at Round 6, Pick 20 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208 Rnd6 Damien Martinez
A real head-scratcher, Damien Martinez in slot 208 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick213 Rnd6 Collin Oliver
A big swing on Collin Oliver at pick 213, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick252 Rnd7 Will Rogers
Will Rogers at the 252nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
