Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Bears cashed the board's mistake on Marshall Jr.: A.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jason Marshall Jr. tumbling to the Bears in pick No. 183 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. This is how you run a draft, and the A reflects it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick30 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Calen Bullock at the 62nd overall pick is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick69 Rnd3 Brian Thomas Jr.
Value with a capital V on Brian Thomas Jr. in the 69th pick, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82 Rnd3 D.J. James
Fair-plus on D.J. James, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
No drama and no debate, Zak Zinter went about where he belonged in slot 93. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick125 Rnd4 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 125 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick128 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
Somehow Dominick Puni was still sitting there in No. 128, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers slipping to the 142nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
They robbed the room for Jason Marshall Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217 Rnd6 Graham Mertz
Good price on Graham Mertz in the 217th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick226 Rnd7 Delmar Glaze
Delmar Glaze at pick No. 226 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
