Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Skattebo fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The 49ers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, in the 185th pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They will need Griffith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Princely Umanmielen
They took Princely Umanmielen at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tate Ratledge at slot 43. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
You do not let a linebacker like Jalon Walker reach the 75th pick and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at pick No. 99 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jake Majors
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in the 111th overall pick, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 36, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at No. 185. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick226 Rnd7 Nick Nash
They paid up for Nick Nash at pick 226 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick230 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the 230th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes in slot 249 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick255 Rnd7 Micah Morris
They went early on Micah Morris in Round 7, Pick 39, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
