Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesC+
FutureA+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Richard Jibunor at the 225th pick is 95 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Beebe steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 2 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick21
Rnd1
Bralen Trice
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick26
Rnd1
T'Vondre Sweat
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in Round 1, Pick 26, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe is a better player than slot 58 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick68
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick85
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in pick No. 85 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89
Rnd3
Graham Barton
The board had cheaper options than Graham Barton at pick No. 89, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tyleik Williams
No edge and no loss on Tyleik Williams in No. 104; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132
Rnd4
Zach Frazier
By-the-book stuff, Zach Frazier at the 132nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick141
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at slot 182, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor at the 225th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
