Blaizer90 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Ransom: B-. The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Lathan Ransom, the No. 107 name on the board, in the 148th pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Reaching for Hemingway left real value on the table behind him. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick No. 10 they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value.
Pick39
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at slot 39 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick41
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
They took Aireontae Ersery at par in Round 2, Pick 9, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in No. 72 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick148
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
A safety of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick233
Rnd7
Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in pick 233 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick240
Rnd7
Tonka Hemingway
A conviction pick on Tonka Hemingway at the 240th overall pick that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
