Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Wilson: B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jared Wilson at the 149th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The cost of the Vinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick39 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A tidy bit of business in slot 39, where Omarion Hampton graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tate Ratledge. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in Round 5, Pick 10 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick197 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson in the 197th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick235 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
Steal is underselling it; Craig Woodson at No. 235 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick242 Rnd7 Ja'Corey Brooks
Value with a capital V on Ja'Corey Brooks in pick No. 242, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
