Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bears.

The Bears looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Davin Vann at Round 7, Pick 17 regardless, 38 picks early. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They banked enough surplus on Bassa to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a centerpiece for the ground game, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
They barely believed it either: Kenneth Grant still on the board at slot 39. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
No drama and no debate, Tate Ratledge went about where he belonged in the 72nd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick148 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in No. 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233 Rnd7 Davin Vann
Davin Vann at pick No. 233 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick240 Rnd7 Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It adds depth where they could use a little.
