Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesB+ FutureB+
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jets: B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jets did exactly that with Jordan Travis in pick 111. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Jennings makes the weekend a net positive.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the 13th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, reach and all.
Pick72 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul in pick No. 72 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
A wild overpay on Jordan Travis in pick 111, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185 Rnd6 Malik Mustapha
The board had Malik Mustapha higher than slot 185, and the safety fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jawhar Jordan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jawhar Jordan well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick257 Rnd7 Donovan Jennings
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jennings still on the board at Round 7, Pick 39. It fills a real need, too.
