The Jets clearly saw something nobody else did in Kamran James, taking him 72 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

Whatever Fernando Mendoza becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

The Downs pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
