Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Commanders a B-. There is a lot to like until you notice wide receiver is still a hole. The Commanders never got to the one that mattered most. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
However the rest shakes out, Harvey at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 7 they get a ballhawk on the back end. Need was not the driver here.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They took Jake Golday at par in slot 71, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They paid sticker price for Davison Igbinosun in pick 145, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Bud Clark
A clean, defensible pick in No. 185 with a little surplus value in Bud Clark. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick196
Rnd6
DJ Harvey
They let DJ Harvey come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 17. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick223
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet slipping to the 223rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
