Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B- to prove it.

Nobody had Justice Haynes this high, and it is not close. The Steelers reached 30 spots to get him at the 135th pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The McDonald pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Chris Cole
In pick No. 21 they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value.
Pick53 Rnd2 A'Mauri Washington
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and A'Mauri Washington at No. 53 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jelani McDonald
They barely believed it either: Jelani McDonald still on the board at pick 76. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick85 Rnd3 Marcus Neal Jr.
No edge and no loss on Marcus Neal Jr. in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99 Rnd3 Raylen Wilson
They read the board right and Raylen Wilson was the payoff at the 99th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick121 Rnd4 Greg Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Greg Johnson at slot 121 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick135 Rnd4 Justice Haynes
A real head-scratcher, Justice Haynes in pick No. 135 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick159 Rnd5 Mason Curtis
Mason Curtis at No. 159 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick213 Rnd6 Sammy Omosigho
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sammy Omosigho at the 213th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick214 Rnd6 Kamari Wilson
No drama and no debate, Kamari Wilson went about where he belonged in the 214th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick224 Rnd7 Cody Jackson
The board had Cody Jackson higher than slot 224, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237 Rnd7 Charles Jagusah
Good price on Charles Jagusah in pick 237, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
