Edwards should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

When a board-topper like Donovan Edwards slides to pick 229, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not.

For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. Skattebo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick83 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
A reach on Cam Skattebo in pick 83; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough at slot 156 is money in the bank, a quarterback taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
They paid sticker price for Chase Lundt in pick No. 171, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick174 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
They jumped the gun on JJ Pegues, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in Round 6, Pick 9 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick211 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
Value with a capital V on KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 211th overall pick, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
They robbed the room for Donovan Edwards here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
