The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Sturdivant: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. J. Michael Sturdivant at the 121st pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The Powers-Johnson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Wingo reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In the 21st pick they get protection for the quarterback. Need was not the driver here.
Pick53 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 53rd overall pick leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick85 Rnd3 Rod Moore
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 22: Rod Moore for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick120 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick121 Rnd4 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in pick No. 121 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick199 Rnd6 Tatum Bethune
Tatum Bethune in slot 199 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242 Rnd7 Derek Wingo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Derek Wingo in No. 242, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
