Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureB
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Starks from sliding. Grade: B+. Whoever sat across the table from the Seahawks should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They banked enough surplus on Starks to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Slater proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland in No. 50 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in the 52nd pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at pick No. 56. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick82
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor is a better player than pick 82 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 28. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
They liked Jackson Slater enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 137. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid a round early for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 172nd overall pick, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick175
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
A premium they did not need to pay, Vernon Broughton a notch or two before his time. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey slid further than he should have, and slot 223 is lovely value for the tight end. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
They did well to land Jermari Harris in pick No. 234, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
