Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureA+
Hard to poke a hole in the Giants' weekend: A-.

Nobody else had Ethan Downs anywhere near the 246th pick. The Giants did, by 40 spots, and that gap is the whole story. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Kamari Lassiter deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. The Emmanwori pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In No. 25 they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
They read the board right and Nick Emmanwori was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 2. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick58 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
They did well to land TreVeyon Henderson in slot 58, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick65 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 65th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Will Howard
They took Will Howard at par in pick 99, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong at pick No. 105 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick154 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
They liked Chase Lundt enough to skip the value, taking him in the 154th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick219 Rnd7 Howard Cross III
No drama and no debate, Howard Cross III went about where he belonged in No. 219. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick246 Rnd7 Ethan Downs
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ethan Downs well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
