Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Raiders worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Nohl Williams at Round 5, Pick 19, a reach of 104 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

The Fitzgerald pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In the 15th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in the 37th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick45 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
They reached a country mile for Donovan Ezeiruaku at Round 2, Pick 13, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at No. 68 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick76 Rnd3 Will Howard
Will Howard in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson in pick 97 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick106 Rnd4 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in slot 106 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Kyren Lacy
A reach for Kyren Lacy in the 115th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142 Rnd5 Carson Schwesinger
Taking Carson Schwesinger in the 142nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick150 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in pick 150, and they pounced on premier safety value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick156 Rnd5 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick167 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at No. 167 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick216 Rnd6 Ryan Fitzgerald
The board fumbled Ryan Fitzgerald all the way to Round 6, Pick 41, and they scooped it up. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
