Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a D+.

The Steelers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 37 on Jalen Milroe a full 58 spots early.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. Getting Golden where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
They talked themselves into Jalen Milroe at pick 37, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick64 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick83 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins is a better player than slot 83 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish at pick No. 123 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
A big swing on JJ Pegues at the 156th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick185 Rnd6 Willie Lampkin
They did well to land Willie Lampkin in slot 185, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
