Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in the 103rd overall pick: the Jets steal Beck and grade out a B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Carson Beck got past him. The Jets do not have to explain a thing at the Round 4 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Payton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In slot 2 they get a downhill hitter at safety at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In pick 16 they get a lockdown presence outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Christen Miller at the 33rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
They will replay Kenyon Sadiq at the 44th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick103 Rnd4 Carson Beck
The board fumbled Carson Beck all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick179 Rnd5 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at pick No. 179 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick193 Rnd6 Patrick Payton
A reach on Patrick Payton in Round 6, Pick 13; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick203 Rnd6 Raylen Wilson
Raylen Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 203 is lovely value for the linebacker. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jalon Daniels
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jalon Daniels at pick No. 207. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Trebor Pena
The board had Trebor Pena higher than the 211th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick218 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Barion Brown in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick242 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
By-the-book stuff, Ethan O'Connor at the 242nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
