Arcadiuz DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B

NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots won the night they stopped Arnold from sliding. Grade: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Jackson Arnold tumbling to the Patriots in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In No. 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
The board fumbled Caleb Banks all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
A linebacker of that caliber at the 94th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick125
Rnd4
Julian Neal
They will replay Julian Neal at pick No. 125 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry in the 130th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol at Round 5, Pick 30 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick194
Rnd6
Aamil Wagner
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Aamil Wagner at pick 194 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
They paid sticker price for Evan Stewart in slot 197, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200
Rnd6
Rayshaun Benny
By-the-book stuff, Rayshaun Benny at Round 6, Pick 22 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick208
Rnd6
Bud Clark
They did well to land Bud Clark in the 208th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jackson Arnold
Somehow Jackson Arnold was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
