The tape said wait; the Eagles did not. Dont'e Thornton Jr. went at the Round 4 slot, a good 48 picks before the board was ready.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. On value alone, Pearce Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
