Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Will Howard, the No. 101 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 161st overall pick.

They will need McLeod to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
