Grand theft in the 98th overall pick: the Eagles steal Haulcy and grade out a D-. Nobody had Dominic Zvada this high, and it is not close. The Eagles reached 40 spots to get him at the Round 6 slot.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Haulcy steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick54
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
They read the board right and Emmanuel Pregnon was the payoff at the 54th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63
Rnd2
Eli Stowers
No edge and no loss on Eli Stowers in No. 63; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68
Rnd3
Isaiah World
Isaiah World at pick 68 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick98
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A safety of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Chris McClellan
They jumped the gun on Chris McClellan, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kyle Louis
They liked Kyle Louis enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 131. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick137
Rnd4
Kevin Coleman Jr.
They went early on Kevin Coleman Jr. in No. 137, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick151
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
By-the-book stuff, Davison Igbinosun at pick 151 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick179
Rnd5
Bud Clark
A reach on Bud Clark in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick201
Rnd6
Dominic Zvada
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dominic Zvada in the 201st overall pick, miles early. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
