Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
D-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Eagles let Rourke fall and pounced. Final grade: D-. Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
However the rest shakes out, Rourke at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 32nd pick they get a seam-stretching tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Pick64
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
They took Cameron Williams at par in No. 64, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick80
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Deone Walker in slot 80 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick96
Rnd3
David Walker
They paid a round early for David Walker in the 96th overall pick, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick117
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. in pick No. 117 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jake Majors
They paid sticker price for Jake Majors in pick 130, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jaylin Lane
Jaylin Lane in No. 134 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish slipping to pick 138 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
Value said wait; Elijah Roberts in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick164
Rnd5
Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke in the 164th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick165
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A big swing on Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 27, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick168
Rnd5
Que Robinson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Que Robinson in slot 168, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick193
Rnd6
Addison West
Addison West at the 193rd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick249
Rnd7
Dante Trader Jr.
A slide stopped in pick No. 249, with Dante Trader Jr. worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
